In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
All praise is due to Almighty Allah for granting us the opportunity to witness yet another blessed Eid-ul-Adha celebration. May His peace and blessings continue to be upon Prophet Muhammad (SAW), his family, companions, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
My dear loyal subjects – brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of Arewa Community in Lagos State and beyond,
As we celebrate this sacred festival of sacrifice, obedience, and devotion, I extend my warmest greetings to every Muslim family. Eid-ul-Adha reminds us of the unwavering faith and total submission of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to the command of Allah. It is a lesson in sacrifice, patience, discipline, and unity.
Today, more than ever before, we must embrace unity among ourselves. Regardless of tribe, language, political affiliation, or social status, we must continue to live as one people with one common purpose — peace, progress, and development of our community and Lagos State at large. Division weakens us, but unity strengthens our voice and secures our future.
I also wish to use this opportunity to address the growing menace of drug abuse among our youths. This dangerous trend is destroying lives, families, and the future of many promising young people. I urge parents, religious leaders, community stakeholders, and our youths themselves to reject all forms of substance abuse and criminal activities. Our young people must understand that discipline, education, and hard work remain the true path to success and dignity.
Furthermore, we must pay serious attention to Islamic and moral education (Islamiyya) for our children. The future of every society lies in the quality of training given to its younger generation. We must teach our children the values of honesty, respect, compassion, responsibility, and fear of Allah. Western education is important, but it must go hand in hand with sound Islamic upbringing and moral guidance.
As active citizens and stakeholders in Lagos State, the Arewa community continues to play a major role in strengthening democracy. We form a large percentage of the active voting population and have consistently contributed to peaceful elections and democratic stability in the state. Democracy can only yield positive dividends when citizens participate responsibly and leaders remain committed to justice, fairness, and good governance.
I therefore encourage our people to continue supporting peaceful coexistence, lawful engagement, and constructive participation in governance. Let us remain partners in the development of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
As we celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, let us remember the less privileged, the widows, the orphans, and those facing hardship. Let us share love, extend kindness, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood within our communities.
May Almighty Allah accept our sacrifices, forgive our shortcomings, bless our homes with peace and prosperity, and continue to guide our leaders aright.
Eid Mubarak to you all.
His Royal Highness,
Alh. (Dr.) Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II,
Sarkin Fulani of Lagos.
