The Establishment of State Police is Essential to Combat Insecurity
The recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa, which led to the deportation of several Nigerians, is a matter of grave concern.
In an interview with Image-maker news, Chief John Okorie stated, “I learned through social media that the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, provided one million naira each to the deportees from Imo State.”
The recent events in South Africa demonstrate a clear breakdown in relations between Nigerians and South Africans.
It is imperative that our citizens are protected, and if the Nigerian system were functioning effectively with a robust leadership system, people would not feel compelled to travel to South Africa in search of better opportunities.
Regrettably, numerous Nigerians have lost their lives and investments due to the ongoing xenophobic attacks.
Furthermore, Chief Okorie emphasized that the creation of state police has been a topic of debate in the National Assembly for several years. He believes that if enacted into law, it would significantly enhance the ability to tackle insecurity.
