The Chief Executive Officer of M7 Petroleum Services Nigeria Limited and M7 Autogas Limited, Chief John Okorie, has joined the Nigerian business community in commemorating World Drug Day and Day of the Seafarer, observed on June 26 and June 25, 2026, respectively.
Speaking with Imagemarker News Online and Gabrio Newspaper, Chief Okorie emphasized the urgent need to combat drug abuse among young people across Nigeria and Africa.
According to him, sustained awareness campaigns should be taken to secondary schools and universities to educate students on the dangers of substance abuse.
“We must continue to preach against drug abuse among our youths. We should take this message to our secondary schools and universities and encourage them to say no to drugs. A cleaner society produces people with sound minds and promotes sustainable development,” he said.
On the occasion of Day of the Seafarer, Chief Okorie also extended his goodwill message to professionals in the maritime sector, stressing the importance of safety on the nation’s waterways.
“I want to encourage my maritime friends, especially those who work on our waters, to always prioritize safety. We must all abide by the rules and regulations that guide maritime operations to ensure the protection of lives and property,” he added.
Chief Okorie reaffirmed that promoting a drug-free society and ensuring maritime safety are essential steps toward national development, urging individuals, institutions, and stakeholders to work together in building a healthier and safer future.
