Amb. Odidi Godday Aguriase has called on people to desist from hatred, bitterness, envy, and unnecessary resentment towards individuals who are making progress and experiencing success in life.
According to him, nobody should hate another person simply because God has opened doors of opportunity, favour, and blessings in that person’s life.
He emphasized that every individual has a different journey, destiny, and season, noting that another person’s success should not be viewed as a threat but as an opportunity to learn, grow, and become inspired.
“Stop hating someone whom God has blessed. You may not understand the journey that person has passed through, the sacrifices made, the battles fought, or the prayers offered before arriving at where they are today,” Amb. Odidi stated.
He further advised people to overcome the culture of comparison and bitterness, stressing that genuine success should be celebrated rather than attacked.
Amb. Odidi noted that hatred can prevent people from recognizing opportunities around them and can also destroy relationships that could have contributed positively to their personal and professional growth.
He encouraged people to cultivate a mindset of gratitude, humility, love and support, saying that celebrating another person’s achievement does not reduce one’s own potential.
“God’s blessing upon another person does not mean that your own blessing has been cancelled. Everyone has his or her own appointed time. Learn to celebrate people, encourage them and remain focused on your own journey,” he added.
The media entrepreneur and public affairs analyst also urged successful individuals to remain humble and use their platforms, resources and influence to empower others.
He stressed that true greatness is not measured only by what one acquires, but also by the number of lives positively impacted along the way.
Amb. Odidi therefore called for a society where people support one another, celebrate genuine achievements, and replace jealousy with encouragement, reminding everyone that another person’s light does not make yours shine less.
