“He who stands for nothing will fall for everything.” Alexander Hamilton

Nigeria urgently needs leaders with self-confidence and self-respect. Leadership without inner conviction is easily tossed around by godfathers, money politics, ethnic pressure, and public noise. Self-confidence is the discipline to think independently and act deliberately, even when it is unpopular.

A leader who cannot make decisions without external influence cannot protect the public interest. In Nigeria, this weakness has produced inconsistency, abandoned policies, and compromised governance.

Self-respect gives a leader the courage to say no to inducement, intimidation, and manipulation. Until leaders learn to stand firm on principle and conscience, our democracy will remain fragile without direction.
