Isoko Nation:We Lack The Media Patronage Of Our People -Odidi Godday Aguriase(OGA)

Isoko people are blessed with great media personalities from conventional media to online media but lack patronage of our own people.

The Ijaw people understand the power of grassroots media investing millions into their local media platforms and social media influencers.

That is why our events don’t trend despite all the huge philanthropic works in the public spaces.

A huge number of sons and daughters in Isokoland have blogs and newspapers, but they don’t patronize them.

I have a huge number of Isoko media people seriously lamenting the low patronage. We hardly connect ourselves, always proving to be knowledgeable at all levels.

Every wealthy or influential man or woman in Ijaw land wants to patronize their own media first.

You see that High Chief Kestin Pondi wants to organize his birthday and he makes sure he brings all the local musicians from all the tribes together to celebrate him. These guys are ahead of us when it comes to media and entertainment.

Some years ago, many Isoko newspapers were established to promote the region, unfortunately, many could not survive it,only the Isoko Mirror newspapers are still surviving the high cost of printing.

Our Isoko philanthropists don’t remember the media, while the likes of Chief Kestin Pondi and others will continue to trend on the media with their humanitarian services because they have continued to place value on their local media houses first.

Some of these local media houses will celebrate today had nothing but their people started investing massively to compete with the global media platforms.

Let us learn from Chief Kestin Pondi’s style of promoting their local media to the top.

If we patronize our own, let us pay them well rather than looking for free publication.

The top secret of grassroots media is that some of the top media houses prefer to get the news from such a platform in case an issue happens they can easily trace the source.

Appreciation is one of the biggest problems of our people, they don’t value their own but can equally celebrate and share the publication or video of non-Isoko media personalities to show an egoistic mentality.

We have a poor PR system in Isokoland,we always believe that since I have huge followers on social media platforms, I don’t need any media to promote me.

It is hard to see Isoko’s top personalities celebrating those celebrating them always ,they prefer to celebrate those at the top only.

Have you asked yourself why Obi Cubana, Davido, E-money, and others with their huge followers still patronize local and national media, visibility requires more media to increase the reach.
