‘That boy calls you ‘father’, so do not have a hand in his death’.

The above excerpt from the award winning Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart is perhaps instructive to what’s about to be experienced in Otor Owhe Community if the intervention of the gods of our land does appear speedily.

In Achebe’s classic novel, Ogbuefi Ezeudu admonished Okonkwo to refrain from participating in the killing of Ikemefuna who has lived with and gotten used to Okonkwo to the extent of calling him ‘father’.

Though the setting and circumstances maybe slightly different, the thematic apperception appears similar in the sense that forces for fear of being thought weak in the political arena are bent on sacrificing our own son who’s a top contender for the 2027 House of Representatives Abuja Isoko North & South Constituency.

In David Seabury’s The Art of Selfishness (1937) the author stressed the need for individuals to imbibe positively selfish attitude as a means of preservation which if translated in our Isoko language means ‘àgo bó fihó uwo’.

It’s indubitably a thing a joy for Sir Bldr Blessing Obomovo to throw his hat into the ring for a contest for the House of Representatives Isoko North & South Constituency position come 2027. Without prodding all sons and daughters of our community who are political leaders in the ward and local government area must selfishly support his ambition so that the cry of marginalization or backwardness of Otor Owhe would be a thing of the past. Or who doesn’t want his or her community to be at a vantage position where major developmental decisions are taken? How did Ozoro, Uzere, Oleh or our neighbouring Emevor communities grow so fast if not that they have people at the top? Must Otor Owhe Community remain at the back of the queue at all times?

Sir Obomovo isn’t only humble to a fault, he stands out as far as community development is concerned. In scholarship awards, sports development, women and youths skilling just to mention but three he’s unequaled.

Against this background therefore, it behoves on all our political leaders to rally round him in ensuring that the APC flag is hoisted in Otor Owhe Community in the next few weeks for the celebration of victory. That’s what the art of selfishness is all about. You’re the only person that can fart in your boxers, no friend no matter how close can do it for you.

It’s a certainty that Sir Bldr Blessing Obomovo calls all of you ‘father’, so do not have a hand in killing his political career.

OghaleIsoko 2027 is the code and the House of Representatives Isoko North and South Federal Constituency is the destination. We all can make it happen and Otor Owhe Community will be better for it!
