We, the concerned people of Isoko at home and abroad, wish to bring this important matter to your attention regarding the safety and security of our communities.

It is your responsibility as local government leaders to watch over and protect our communities. We also wish to remind all community chiefs and leaders of their duties and responsibilities concerning the security and well-being of our people.

While we continue to hold the Federal Government and the State Government accountable for security challenges across the country, we also want you to understand that the security allocations provided to local governments should be properly utilized for the protection of our communities.

We are aware of the laws and the security allocations being released by both the Federal and State Governments. Therefore, we will hold local government authorities accountable for any security failures that occur in our communities due to negligence or inaction.

The local government chairmen and councillors must rise to their responsibilities and begin to act decisively. The President and the State Governor cannot do everything alone. This is why your offices are very important and must function effectively.

We strongly recommend that all Isoko local government chairmen employ youths from every community to help monitor and guard our forests and vulnerable areas.

By doing so, we can better protect our land and ensure the safety of our people.
Isoko is our only homeland and our inheritance. Therefore, if anything happens in our communities because of a failure to take reasonable and necessary security measures, your offices should be held responsible and accountable.

We urge you to act immediately and work together with traditional rulers, community leaders, and the people to secure our land for present and future generations.

Signed: Michel Efe.
