AJEGUNLE, LAGOS — Dr. Oladipupo Wilson Diriwari has urged residents of Ajegunle and the wider Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency to approach the 2027 general elections with careful consideration, stressing the importance of choosing candidates whose character, personality, experience and commitment to public service can be examined by the electorate.
Diriwari said elections should not be reduced to political party loyalty, financial inducements or campaign promises, but should provide an opportunity for citizens to assess the individuals seeking their mandate and determine what qualities they bring to public office.
He encouraged voters to consider such attributes as integrity, accountability, competence, accessibility, courage, compassion, experience and a demonstrated understanding of community needs when evaluating candidates.
According to reports published in 2026, Diriwari has been adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the 2027 election.
The legal practitioner and community figure has also spoken publicly about his background in Ajegunle and his involvement in community-related issues. Reports indicate that, through the OWD Foundation, he has supported educational interventions including JAMB, WAEC and GCE registration assistance for young people in the constituency.
Diriwari maintained that leadership should be measured by service, responsibility and tangible commitment to the people, rather than by political slogans alone. He urged residents to ask candidates important questions about their records, plans and capacity to represent the constituency effectively.
He also called for issue-based political engagement, encouraging candidates to present their ideas openly and participate in public discussions where voters can hear their positions and compare their records.
“Ajegunle deserves leaders who understand the people, appreciate their challenges and are prepared to provide responsible representation,” Diriwari said, according to the political position attributed to him.
He further appealed to young people and first-time voters to take their civic responsibilities seriously by obtaining their voter cards, participating peacefully in the electoral process and making informed choices based on the candidates before them.
As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, Diriwari’s message places emphasis on character, competence, accountability and people-oriented leadership as factors voters can consider when deciding who should receive their mandate.
For Ajegunle, a densely populated community with longstanding social and economic challenges, the 2027 election is expected to generate significant discussion around representation, youth development, education, employment, security, infrastructure and grassroots empowerment.
