Chief John Okorie has called on Nigerian leaders and public representatives to uphold the image, dignity and reputation of the country whenever they participate in international engagements and global platforms.

According to him, Nigeria is blessed with enormous human and natural resources, a rich cultural heritage and a large population of talented citizens whose contributions continue to attract global attention. He therefore stressed the importance of ensuring that those representing the country abroad demonstrate professionalism, integrity, competence and a strong sense of national responsibility.

Chief Okorie noted that international platforms provide opportunities for Nigerian leaders to showcase the country’s potential, attract investments, promote partnerships and present positive narratives about Nigeria to the global community.

He emphasized that leadership representation goes beyond attending international conferences or speaking at prestigious events. In his view, it also involves communicating Nigeria’s interests effectively, respecting diplomatic protocols, promoting unity and demonstrating the values that can strengthen confidence in the country.

He urged political leaders, government officials, business leaders and other Nigerians occupying prominent positions to place the national interest above personal considerations when representing Nigeria internationally.

“Whenever we appear on global platforms, we should remember that we are not representing ourselves alone. We are representing Nigeria and millions of Nigerians. Our conduct, words and actions can influence how the country is perceived by the international community,” he said.

Chief Okorie further encouraged Nigerian leaders to use international engagements to promote economic opportunities, youth development, entrepreneurship, innovation, education, tourism and cultural exchange.
