Chief John Okorie has joined Nigerians across the country in celebrating His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was born on September 2, 1966, clocks 60 today, September 2, 2026. He has served Nigeria in several capacities, including as Governor of Borno State and Senator representing Borno Central, before becoming Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

In his goodwill message, Chief John Okorie described the milestone as an opportunity for Nigerians to celebrate a life of public service, leadership, experience, and commitment to the nation.

According to Chief Okorie, while the Vice President is a member of a political party and currently serves alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the APC administration, the office he occupies is a constitutional office belonging to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Vice President Kashim Shettima is the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is not the Vice President of a political party. Political parties come and go, administrations change, but national institutions remain,” Chief Okorie stated.

He noted that celebrating the Vice President should not necessarily be viewed through the lens of partisan politics, but as recognition of an individual who has attained a significant milestone while serving the Nigerian state.

Chief Okorie further congratulated Vice President Shettima for reaching the age of 60, describing the milestone as a moment to reflect on his journey from banking to public administration, his years as Governor of Borno State, his time in the Senate and his present responsibility as Nigeria’s Vice President.

He also commended the Vice President’s contribution to the Tinubu administration and his role in coordinating important aspects of national governance. President Tinubu, in his own 60th-birthday message, described Shettima as a patriot and trusted partner whose public life has been marked by service, commitment and sacrifice.

Chief John Okorie wished the Vice President greater wisdom, strength, good health and God’s continued guidance as he carries out his responsibilities to Nigeria.

He also encouraged Nigerians to approach national leadership beyond political affiliations, emphasizing the importance of respecting constitutional offices and supporting initiatives that promote peace, unity, development and the progress of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“On this special occasion, I celebrate His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, not merely as a politician, but as a Nigerian who has attained 60 years and has dedicated a significant part of his life to public service. May God grant him more years of wisdom, good health, and purposeful service to our great nation,” Chief John Okorie concluded.

Happy 60th Birthday, Your Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON.

From Chief John Okorie and family, congratulations and best wishes for many more years of impactful service to Nigeria.
