Chief John Okorie has commended the successful signing ceremony of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO), describing the development as a landmark milestone for Nigeria’s capital market and the nation’s economic transformation.
The historic signing ceremony, held at Eko Hotels, Lagos, marks a major step toward the public offering of Dangote Petroleum Refinery shares in what is being positioned as Africa’s largest-ever public share sale.
The ₦2.15 trillion ($1.6 billion) transaction involves 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 per share, creating an opportunity for Nigerians and other investors to participate in the growth of one of Africa’s most significant industrial investments.
Chief John Okorie noted that the IPO could deepen public participation in Nigeria’s industrial development while encouraging a stronger culture of investment, ownership and wealth creation among everyday Nigerians.
According to the announced timetable, the official application list is scheduled to open on September 14, 2026, and remain open for 25 days before closing on October 9, 2026.
Everyday investors will reportedly be able to participate with a minimum subscription of 100 ordinary shares, valued at ₦52,500, with additional subscriptions available in multiples of 50 shares.
Chief John Okorie further encouraged Nigerians to pay attention to opportunities within the capital market and to seek proper financial advice before making investment decisions.
He described the Dangote Refinery IPO as more than a corporate transaction, saying it represents an important moment in Nigeria’s journey toward greater local participation in major industries and the expansion of investment opportunities for citizens.
The development is expected to attract significant attention from individual investors, institutions, and the wider business community as Nigeria continues to explore ways of strengthening domestic investment and economic growth.
